The Ask
In preparation of Advertising Week in New York, Airbnb teamed up with Google and approached
STOPP to create a campaign that captured the micro moment of someone looking for directions
in the city. The idea was to serve an ad when users were searching for directions during
Advertising Week, which would provide an audio guided tour along the streets with
voiceovers and useful tips from local Airbnb hosts on the way to your destination.
The Process
I researched multiple audio guided tours in the digital space before wireframing and prototyping
the experience. I gave prominence to the Airbnb brand while maintaining a Google product feel.
It was an iterative process with user testing by the teams at Airbnb, Google, and STOPP.
During the course of four weeks I created the entire user experience,
user interface, and all of the banners for this web application.
The campaign gave Airbnb and Google the opportunity to tailor their message to be insightful, useful,
and relevant in the moment of consumer intent. During Advertising Week the campaign was used
as an example and case study, by Margo Georgiadis,former President of Google Americas.
